Medications and fertility

For treating female fertility issues, Dr. Chamoun may prescribe fertility medications when appropriate and necessary. One of the most common fertility treatments stages begins with the administration of Clomid.

Clomid is an ovulatory stimulant used for the treatment of ovulation dysfunction. Clomid stimulates the release of pituitary hormones necessary for ovulation to occur. Clomid is an oral tablet usually taken in 5 day cycles. It stimulates ovulation and then intercourse or IUI is timed to coincide with the expected time of ovulation.

Between 70% and 80% of patients with ovulation dysfunction will ovulate on Clomid, and as many as 70% of those who ovulate on Clomid will get pregnant within six cycles of use. It’s highly effective with few side effects and has become a simple, non-invasive treatment when lack of ovulation is the cause of infertility.
